Adopted Richmonders Illiterate Light have released the music video for their charging new single, “Growin’ Down.” The video comes on the heels of a busy summer for the alt-rock duo that saw the release of memorable sessions with RVATRACK and Good Day RVA, as well as an earlier official single release of the song “Better Than I Used To.”
The creative video for “Growin’ Down” sees the Harrisonburg duo intimately framed by the camera with both emotive expression and detached stoicism, before moving to a more whimsical setting that sees the band perform on guitars and drums supported by loose strings dangling from the short ceiling of their cramped performing space.
The song itself is a heartfelt folk plea that quickly descends into a resounding southern rock jam before settling on a relaxed country swing to close out the tune. Moving and parabolic, the song’s titular refrain of “I’ve been growin down / I’m growin down / I’m growin down” is a melodic barrage that could properly close down even the more riotous concerts available in and out of town.
Illiterate Light will be travelling through a handful of cities from Virginia to Alabama over the next month and a half, before coming back to Richmond on November 24th, opening for J Roddy Walston And The Business at The Broadberry.
